Our view of the top 10 Tripadvisor restaurants
Tripadvisor is a great source of useful information when you are planning to travel. On the site you will find the views of holiday makers who have commented on the restaurants in St Lucia. Here we give you our take on those restaurants which appear in the top 10 and are within a 10 minute drive of St Lucia’s premier family villa – Akasha.
Spice of India is at the top of the review list. This is a fairly new restaurant – two years and its great to see a really good Indian restaurant in the north of St Lucia. The prices are reasonable and food is well prepared. Service is keen and attentive.
La Terrasse a good French restaurant which is hidden away. Service is excellent and the ambiance is a little different to the other restaurants you will find in Rodney Bay. To find it turn right by the Big Chef restaurant and follow the road around to the left and it on the left hand side after 200yards.
Flavours of the Grill offers local dishes and more reasonably priced than most of the “tourist” restaurants. Again difficult to find but its on the corner of Dauphne and Mare Therese – in the heart of Gros Islet village. The Chef/Owner is always on hand.
Big Chef Steakhouse has been around for a long time and has had new owners for the last 5 years. The new owners have continued the good work and renovated the restaurant creating a much better ambiance. A little more expensive than the other restaurants but worth it if you like your steaks.
Jacques Waterfront Dining (Froggie Jacques) Good location even if its difficult to find – if you turn into Rodney Bay go to the very end of that road and turn into the car park on your right when you can go no further. The restaurant is at the far end of the car park, the Happy Day Bar is on your left. The food is well cooked and a fairly extensive wine list available. Some feel the restaurant is a little expensive, but it your holidays so just enjoy the experience.
The Cliff at Cap Maison Another fairly new restaurant in the area but some rave reviews from our guests who dined there. The view from the dining area is super so make sure you book as the best tables get taken quickly. A little more expensive than most of the other restaurants in the top 10.
Jambe De Bois another restaurant which is hard to find – just go to Pigeon Island and ask the guys at the gate to point you in the right direction. If you go at night get the taxi driver to drive you in (or you will need a torch). Very reasonable prices for good food. Very informal but the setting is super.
We would recommend all of the restaurants above to our guests – there are many more which do not make the top 10 because they due not pursue reviews on Tripadvisor but they are just as good. All are within easy reach of Akasha St Lucia’s most luxurious and private villa rental. They all serve food which is ideal for families.
